Sample Clerical Resume

A clerk performs support functions in an office. These include secretarial and administrative assistant duties, data entry, answering phones, receptionist functions, sending and receiving mails, typing, running errands and other minor jobs like photocopying and printing documents. The candidate needs to be good with his communication and using relevant software. Openings are usually available at the entry level with good prospects for promotion. The sample resume illustrates the case of a candidate with the experience of a receptionist, data entry operator and customer service representative. He is well versed with preparing sales budget, handling sales calls and follow ups.

The responsibilities of clerical jobs involve assisting the employer and other employees. Positions like secretaries, administrative assistants, receptionists, typists, data entry operators, telephone operators and the like are clerical jobs. A clerical job candidate should be good at multi tasking, handling paperwork and office correspondence, running errands, performing other minor jobs like printing and photocopying, maintaining the appointment schedule and arranging the conference room etc. The candidate in the resume has considerable experience as an administrative assistant with a couple of employers. He is skilled at coordinating, liaising, record keeping, fund raising and managing conferences and meetings.

A clerk performs duties like filing, record keeping, attending to correspondence and the service / sales counter, answering phones, making photocopies and printing documents, typing, data entry, taking signatures, preparing envelopes, greeting customers and handling other errands. Although no special qualifications are needed, a person trained as a typist, telephone operator, data entry operator and in other such areas is preferred. Likewise, experience is given priority. The resume illustrates this point with a candidate who has completed junior college and courses in typing, data processing and clerical. He is experienced in sorting mail, data entry, bank depositor etc.
