Engineering technicians are skilled professionals who assist engineers and scientists in the application of engineering principles in the manufacturing and maintenance of a product. They conduct extensive research and development on the product and have an application-oriented approach to work. Based on the specific job type, an engineering technician may have to conduct experiments and collate the produced data for the reference of the engineers. They also need to be proficient in handling computers and may need to be trained in specific computer applications which aide their work. In order to work as an engineering technician, an individual should have a basic associate degree in engineering technology with specialization in a particular subject.
